About Us

The Wood Floor Exchange is a program created and administered by Wood Flooring International to provide timely market data on imported wood flooring items that have turned commodity in the North American market. Read why we're uniquely positioned to create this marketplace.

This site lists only those species/formats that have become popular enough to be widely bought in full container quantities.  Additionally, they have to be traded through multiple sources—as opposed to an orderly controlled market—including manufacturers, agents, brokers, importers, etc., similar to the truckload solid red oak strip flooring market in North America.

Each product group offered on this site is presently being imported into North America in a minimum quantity of at least 200 containers per month, which we deem as the threshold to qualify as a commodity product group.

How to use the Wood Floor Exchange:

  • As an information service: The Wood Floor Exchange is an information service in that we provide the actual current prices at which the mills listed will accept forward orders. We encourage you to use this web site to research where the market is today and compare to your present sources of supply. We provide this information free of charge to you!
  • As a buying service: After you've seen how low prices for wood flooring can be, use the Wood Floor Exchange to handle the shipping, customs clearance, and final delivery of the flooring you have chosen for a low, set percentage fee (as low as 7%) depending on the purchase terms you choose. We also provide a limited warranty (PDF) and after-sales support as part of this fee. Many buyers use us as their "quality insurance", having been stuck with bad product in the past and little recourse to return it when importing direct.

If you intend on reselling our products, we suggest you add several percent to your markup to build a reserve for claims, as you are buying at extremely low prices and need to cover claim expenses on your own.

Note to marketing Co-ops, Golf Tournaments, Showrooms, Model Homes, Buying Group Rebates, etc.: Please do not ask the Wood Floor Exchange to contribute to any of these as it is simply not possible. Our buying service fees are set very low and do not include markups to cover any of these expenses. Remember, we are only acting as a buying agent, not a full support vendor who charges a commensurately large markup.
