WFEX: Afer-Sale Support

Pre-Inspection Warranty:

  • The Wood Floor Exchange (WFEX) offers buyers the following Pre-Inspection Warranty:
    • WFEX will take product back for full refund, if visible defects are found in excess of the industry standard allowable 5%. Product must not be installed and be returned in original packaging in good saleable condition.
      • WFEX breaks down claims in two broad categories:
        • Quantitative Issues – these issues are easy to qualify for Pre-Inspection Warranty claims and include:
          • Poor Milling/Fit
          • Obvious Finish Issues
          • Color Non Match Issues
        • Qualitative Issues – these issues are more judgmental in nature and include:
          • Wood grades, wood color & graining & character.
          • These types of claims must be deemed by WFEX to be greater in scope and quantity than allowed either for the grade ordered and/or for the typical range to be found in a given wood species.
      • In all cases, should you find any questionable material STOP INSTALLATION IMMEDIATELY and call WFEX at 1-609-589-3100 for advice. Remember flooring with visible defects, once installed shall be deemed accepted and no warranty claim shall be honored by WFEX.

 Post-Installation Warranty:

  • On the WFEX website and linked to each item offered, is the specific warranty provided by the manufacturer for that SKU and whom is responsible for Post Installation Warranty claims.  The process to submit Post Installation Warranty claims is:
    • As soon as you become aware of any issues, contact WFEX immediately at 1-609-589-3100 and/or fill out the WFEX Flooring Complaint Form and send samples of the issue.  Do NOT rip out the floor and replace w/o getting permission to do so from WFEX and allowing our inspection of the floor.
    • Depending on the nature of the issue WFEX may then send its own staff to inspect the floor and/or hire a third party inspection service.
    • A formal finding & resolve recommendation shall be written up by WFEX and submitted to the manufacturer whose final determination shall be implemented and if it includes payments, these will be credited to WFEX who in turn will credit you for all bona fide warranty claims.

Warranty Suggestions to Buyers:

  •  Please note: WFEX acts as a selling agent to the manufacturer, who is the party responsible for settling post installation claims. In practice, WFEX, as a large buyer and having worked with each manufacturer in setting the technical standards as well as the quality control systems has more clout than most to get mills to honor reasonable and valid claims. At the same time, WFEX will NOT submit claims which we deem as “political” or non-substantive in nature.  To handle political claims and /or “policy adjustments”, WFEX advises all buyers to build into their pricing structure a % or two to cover these types of claims.  Given the pricing structure of WFEX it is incumbent upon and recommended to the buyers that they add to their pricing structure some reserves to cover non manufacture related claims.
